Not so long ago it was easy to get me off track and stop me from doing positive things in my life. When I would face resistance against positive goal like weight loss, I would quit. I listened to people who by their own lives proved they didn’t know what they were talking about and were lying. I even acted surprised by the pitiful results I was getting. It was the low that triggered a resurgence of my true self, my life was not worth living. I decided that I was no longer going to live like the people around me anymore. I had to conquer myself and force myself to do the things I knew I should be doing. With fierce determination to become someone else I continued the struggle against myself. This determination turned into momentum, becoming progressively easier as time passed.
Choosing the hard path made my life and the struggles easier to bear. Determination is similar to will power however it is a bit stronger. It is a committed decision that you refuse to turn away from no matter the challenges that arise. Come hell or high water you continue to struggle to become the new you. This will get easier and that’s when it becomes momentum, or a habit. It’s ultimately our habitual behavior that will determine the course our life takes. So which way do you want to go? One thing is for sure, progressing in something, anything worthwhile is better than stagnation. If you stay in one place you will decay and look back in regret and resentment. The only one you can blame if you don’t try is yourself. Others may try to stop you and if you let them have that power you choose to capitulate to them. The key is to be so determined in your goal that no one can stop you from giving it your best. Doing this enough will lead to a life chosen deliberately with a sense of fulfillment and purpose.
Determination is not just a feeling or a thought; it is a way of life. It is a state of mind that is forged through consistent and focused effort towards a particular goal. Determination is not something that comes naturally to everyone. It requires a certain level of discipline, patience, and persistence that only a few possess. However, like any other skill, determination can be developed through practice and repetition. The more you cultivate determination, the easier it becomes to persevere through tough times and achieve your desired outcome.
One of the key benefits of determination is that it instills a sense of purpose and direction in our lives. When we set our sights on a particular goal and make a commitment to achieving it, we begin to feel more connected to our purpose in life. We start to see the world in a different light and become more aware of the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. This sense of purpose and direction can help us stay focused and motivated, even when things get tough. It can also inspire us to take on new challenges and pursue new opportunities that we may not have considered before.
Determination is a powerful force that can help us achieve our goals and lead a more fulfilling life. It is a strong commitment to our goals, as well as the discipline and persistence to see them through. By developing our determination, we can overcome obstacles, stay focused on our purpose, and achieve the success we desire. So, if you are looking to make positive changes in your life, start by cultivating your determination and watch as your life transforms to what you want it to be.
You nailed it. We all need determination. Just make a decision and stick with it.
